Frequently asked

Questions NRIs ask us first

If you're wondering any of this, you're not being difficult — you're being careful with your money. Here's where we stand on each one.

How do I know a property is actually verified, and not just marketed as "verified"?

Fair question — "verified" gets thrown around a lot in this industry. For us it means the RERA status, the title, and the builder's track record are checked before a listing ever goes live, with the title and encumbrance review done by a partner law firm, and you get that report in writing. Not a green tick on a webpage — an actual document you can read.

Can I complete the entire purchase without flying to India?

Yes, and most of our buyers do exactly that. Your advisor walks the site and joins a live video call with you, documents are verified digitally, and you can follow the agreement, payment, and registration from your account. Many people only fly in when it is time to pick up the keys.

What are NelaZo Maps?

Interactive maps NelaZo builds for each city it covers. You can see every verified project on the map, exactly where it sits and what is nearby, then measure the real distance from a property to your workplace, a school, the nearest hospital, a metro station, the airport, or a park. It is built for the trade-offs that are hard to judge from a listing or from another country, and it is part of Paid Advisory.

Will NelaZo call me out of the blue?

No. NelaZo does not cold-call. When you want to speak to your advisor, you book a Google Meet in an open time slot from your NelaZo account, on your own schedule and timezone. Every call is recorded and saved to your account, so what your advisor tells you is on the record and you can go back to it later. Scheduled, recorded calls are part of Paid Advisory.

What if I want to sell a property I already own in India?

You will list it from the same account, switched to "Selling." The listing goes through the same verification we give every builder project, and your advisor handles the buyer enquiries and negotiation, so you are not fielding calls from strangers at odd hours across time zones. Listing your own property for sale is part of the next phase of the platform.

Okay, but how does NelaZo actually make money?

We would rather you ask than wonder. There are four sources, and every one is disclosed. First, the Paid Advisory subscription: a flat fee, currently 30 US dollars a month, for the tier where a dedicated advisor handles your purchase end to end. Browsing and the verified-user dashboard stay free. Second, a fee from the builder on a completed purchase, at one fixed rate that is never above 2 percent of the price and is shown to you in writing before you close; the rate is the same for every verified builder, so none can pay for a better spot on your shortlist. Third, smaller referral fees if you choose to use our legal, CA, or loan partners, which is always your call and never automatic. Fourth, when we help you sell a property, a fixed commission for verifying your documents, auditing the location, recommending a price, and finding a verified buyer; that service is part of the next phase of the platform. We never hold your money at any point.

How do you handle FEMA rules and repatriation for NRIs?

This is exactly the kind of thing that trips people up, which is why we do not leave it to you to Google at midnight. Our CA and legal partners deal with NRI transactions all day — FEMA compliance, repatriation limits, tax filing — and your advisor brings them in at the right point. The regulated advice comes from them, not from NelaZo.

What if there is no showcase happening in my city?

No problem at all — the showcases are a bonus, not a gate you need to pass through. Ask us to notify you when one is scheduled near you, and keep searching and verifying digitally in the meantime. Plenty of people complete their whole purchase without ever attending one.

Who do I talk to if something goes wrong after I have closed?

The same advisor who handled your purchase — we do not hand you off to a call centre once the deal is done. If you need a lawyer or a CA afterwards, your advisor connects you. Rental and property management is the next service NelaZo is building.

Is my personal and financial data safe when I upload documents?

Yes — everything is encrypted, both in transit and at rest, and access is limited by role. If we ever share something with a legal, loan, or CA partner on your behalf, that only happens with your consent, and we keep a record of it. You stay in control of who sees what.
